Best Laid Plans
December was upon us and my market stall plans were in full swing. I’d organised public liability insurance, designed the signage, dug around the loft and basement for props and had taken delivery of our first order….our stationery line. (The fact that our kitchen linen suppliers had let us down, our order from them had still not arrived, was not going to deter me!) I had created a mood board ( with the help of Elsa!)
Now I was ready to introduce our brand and lovely products to the Christmas shoppers flocking to Greenwich Market. Except the flu had other plans for me! One by one our household were dropping like flies. Everyone I knew was sick and just as I ventured out of my sick bed I slipped down the stairs. I won’t bore you with the details but a visit to A&E, Xrays (no serious damage done…phew!) and a lovely cocktail of drugs and I was back in my bed and laid low for another week. By the time I tentatively headed to market it was already mid December but I was confident that business would be booming. The market was indeed bustling and looked very pretty with fairy lights strewn everywhere. There was mulled wine and carol singers and, even if I say so myself, our stall looked great. And I had two little Christmas angels come to visit.
Now! Where are those shoppers?
